Book Reviews – Zombies!

Books & E-Books

I have a GENEROUS collection of zombie-themed e-books.  Sadly, I don’t have a lot of time to read but I pound down audiobooks.  I’m trying to get an e-reader that has an audio reader function so I can finally get into my collection.

Affliction Z: Patient Zero
by L.T. Ryan

This was the first e-book I owned — thanks to LT Ryan doing a free promotion.  Between this generosity and the character of his writing, he gained a fan!  Patient Zero is a special-ops/zombie story.  The author drops into a dark and mysterious landscape, then quickly takes you on a dangerous mission into a zombie combat zone!

Audiobooks

The Girl With All The Gifts by M.R. CareyThe Girl With All the Gifts
by M.R. Carey

In my opinion this book and film are among the few that raise the bar on the zombie genre.  Read it, watch it — whatever — if you’re a Z-fan, get your hands on this!

World War Z – An Oral History Of The Zombie War
by Max Brooks

I’ve started listening to this audiobook a number of times.  It’s fun, particularly with all the celebrity voices that were used to depict the different vignettes.  One of these times, I’ll give it the focus it truly deserves.

Boneshaker

I listened to the audiobook version of Boneshaker. Up until the end I guess I enjoyed it.  It was well read by Wil Wheaton and Kate Reading.  What threw me off was when Wil and Kate represented the same C-string characters — with one in particular it was unclear that it wasn’t a newly introduced character (“WhoTheHUH?!?”).  I had collected more of the author’s audiobooks and was looking forward to listening to them, but then for personal reasons deleted everything — including Boneshaker.

Graphic Novels & Comic Books

Hmm, I’ve not read a zombie themed graphic novel yet…. I’m game to give it a go!
